the kissing booth 2

This teen romance story returns in full-force with even more drama. “The Kissing Booth 2” picks up right where the first film left off. Elle Evans (Joey King) and her boyfriend Noah Flynn (Jacob Elordi) spend a romantic summer together before it is time for Noah to head back to Harvard and for Joey to start her senior year of high school.

Long-distance is a rocky road for the couple. Elle (King) has trouble balancing the relationship, college applications and completing her senior year. Jealousy and trust issues become a commonplace in the relationship.

While trying to deal with the struggles in her relationship and life, Elle befriends a new student at her school Marco Peña (Taylor Zakhar Perez) and the two become close. Elle finds herself spending more time with Marco than her best friend Lee Flynn (Joel Courtney) as Lee’s girlfriend Rachel (Meganne Young) wishes for more alone time for her and Lee as Elle is always around.

Noah also finds himself another friend at Harvard, Chloe Winthrop (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) causing even more tension between Noah and Elle.

Tension also grows between Elle and Lee when Lee discovers that Elle applied to Harvard in addition to UC Berkeley. One of Lee and Elle’s best friend's “rules” was that they must attend the same college. While Berkeley has always been her dream school, Elle longs to be close to Noah. Where will she go?

“The Kissing Booth 2” is packed with romance, drama and tough decisions. Because of all that is going on, I often felt like the film was all over the place. There was almost too much going on.

The film’s run-time is 2 hours and 11 minutes and I think that was too long. Just when I thought it was almost over, something else happened. I think it dragged on for too long and kept coming back to the same events.

It has already been announced that “The Kissing Booth 3” has already been filmed and is slated to be released in 2021. Fans anxiously await the release date as there is much to be revealed and discovered in the third movie.

“The Kissing Booth 2” had good intentions but droned on for too long and had too much going on. The film could definitely have been cleaned up to make it more enjoyable. However, I would still recommend it if you are interested in Elle and Noah’s consistent drama. There are also more twists than you would think in this film. For now we have to wait to see what happens next until the third movie is released.
