UNC Testing Center

Beginning Monday, Jan. 10, 2022, spring semester classes will be held virtually for two weeks, and in-person classes will begin Monday, Jan. 24, per the NinerNotice released Dec. 31, 2021. UNC Charlotte has instituted this change to keep campus safe and healthy.

With these changes, Housing and Residence Life is giving undergraduate students who reside on campus two options regarding the shift in class instruction. Students may choose to live on-campus for the two weeks of virtual classes or remain off campus and return between Jan. 19-23.

Students who intend to live off-campus until Jan. 19-23 will receive a credit on their student account. These students will need to complete this form by Jan. 6 by 11:59 p.m. to indicate their intentions to live off-campus. The University highly encourages students to delay their return to campus for this time.

Students who intend to move on campus before Jan. 10 will be required to complete the following return to campus requirements as noted in the Dec. 23 NinerNotice.

“All residential students must have proof of a COVID vaccination, including a booster if eligible, on record or a negative re-entry test conducted prior to returning or moving into their residence hall.”

According to the NinerNation Testing Protocols website, students and employees must be fully vaccinated, which is defined as receiving the COVID-19 vaccine and the booster once eligible.

Those who wish to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and/or booster can register for an appointment.

“Vaccines and booster shots (Pfizer and Moderna) will be offered on campus every Thursday and Friday in partnership with Vax Van. Register for an appointment here.”

Students and faculty can submit their updated vaccination card through the online reporting form. Students and employees will be exempt from testing protocols once the booster reporting form has been received and approved.

Students who are not fully vaccinated with the booster will be required to participate in re-entry and weekly mitigation testing.

Re-entry testing must be completed before returning to classes and residence halls. Housing and Residence Life requires that students present their negative results to return to their rooms. Re-entry testing must occur on campus for students.

Students can register for the test using this form, and the testing will be administered in a 15-20 minutes waiting period, according to the Dec. 31 NinerNotice. After a negative result, students will be taken to the residence hall to gain entry. Re-entry testing will begin on Jan. 4, continuing through Jan. 28, and is available for the entire campus community.

Before the start of in-person classes on Jan. 24, all employees and off-campus students must “have proof of a COVID vaccination, including a booster if eligible, on record or a negative re-entry test conducted prior to returning to class [and campus].”

There will be no assignments due or tests administered Jan. 19-21 to accommodate students moving on campus during Jan. 19-23. Students who must miss class to move in during this period will have an excused absence. Housing and Residence Life will provide the necessary verification.

“Faculty members with questions should reach out directly to the Office of Academic Affairs at academicaffairs@uncc.edu.”

Dining services will be modified for the virtual two weeks. Starting Jan. 6, SoVi will be open for dine-in and take-out. Other dining services will be made available as the need arises.

“Students with meal plans who do not use any meal swipes prior to Jan. 19 will receive a credit to their student account for the two-week delay period.”

Meal plan holders will receive further communication “outlining potential credit amounts and timing in early January.”

Parking permits for the spring semester will go on sale on Jan. 3. Those who do not intend to be on campus until Jan. 24 should delay purchasing a permit.

“Current permit holders will receive an email outlining potential refund amounts and timing in early January.”
