Defense was the dominant factor for both teams as the Charlotte 49ers tied the FIU Panthers 0-0.
FIU was dominant in the first half with eight shots of their own. The Niners were not able to register a single shot. In the second half, Charlotte finally got their first chance with a shot by Joe Brito that would go wide. As the Panthers continued their onslaught, the Niners started to get in the groove of the game and had chances of their own. However, none of the chances could find the back of the net.
In the first overtime, FIU had three shots, one of them saved by senior goalkeeper Elliot Panicco. Owen Peeler had a chance in the second overtime but his shot was saved.
FIU outscored the Niners 15-4. Panicco performed well, collecting five saves to his name.
